Injectables
More and more people are using injectable drugs as part of their medication therapy each year. Injectable drugs are defined as those drug therapies that are indicated for the treatment of chronic and/or life-threatening disease states that require administration by injection, infusion or inhalation. The use of specialty injectable drugs has increased due to the fact that they are more effective than oral medications in treating certain conditions. In addition, specialty injectables have fewer side effects and are less likely to be contraindicated with other medications. Specialty injectables are an important part of the medication armamentarium and should be used judiciously by healthcare providers to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
